What is a letter of invitation?
A letter of invitation is the official document by which a person residing in Spain invites a foreign national to come to Spain as a tourist and commits to hosting them during their stay.

Official letter of invitation: invite a relative or friend to Spain
A letter of invitation is the official document by which a resident of Spain invites a foreign national to visit them as a tourist. It is issued by the National Police and proves accommodation when applying for a short-stay visa or when crossing the border.
To process the letter, the inviter must attend the Police station by prior appointment with their ID document, the property documentation, and the guest's details, in addition to paying the corresponding fee.
Remember that the letter of invitation is only one of the documents required to obtain the visa: the guest must also present financial means, travel insurance, a return ticket, and a justified reason for the trip.
